In 2015 water was brought up in buckets from a small seasonal stream in the traditional way.
A bucket at a time is very hard work.
In 2016, a borehole was sunk with storage tank and pump to provide clean, safe water for Kalilanama. This enabled the school to be opened, and the children to have fresh drinking water to drink and for washing.
A water pipe was laid from the water storage tank with a standpipe which provides water for the workers.
One of the visitors’ huts is in the background and Grace is doing the washing up.
May 2023 - Due to the growth of the project and with so many children at the school, a new bore hole with hand pump is needed in addition to the current one so that people can pump their own fresh water. This is one of the next priorities. The new bore hole was drilled and pump installed at the beginning of July 2023
